ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Whether in shape or not, persons are being encouraged to come out in large numbers on December 16, 2017 for a charity 5K run/walk in support of the BVI Autism Centre, which was damaged by Hurricane Irma on September 6, 2017.

The event is being organised by Scotiabank (BVI) and is dubbed the Scotiabank Jingle Bell 5K Walk/Run for Charity. The Jingle Bell 5K Walk/Run will come complete with Santa hats and great giveaways. Registration is free.

“To give back all you need to do is show up and show your support,” said Scotiabank in a press release on December 7, 2017.

For every participant/registrant Scotiabank will donate $25 to the BVI Autism Centre. The more registrations the more in can give back.

The BVI Autism Centre was severely damaged by the impact of Hurricane Irma and Maria including structural damage and loss of the roof. Resources were lost and staff are currently providing services to clients in schools and homes where possible. As part of the Disability Services Unit at Social Development the BVI Autism Centre provides support services to children and adults and has helped over 130 clients.

The Scotiabank Jingle Bell 5K Walk/Run will take place Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the parking lot between the Scotiabank Road Town Branch and Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park.

Registration starts at 6:00 A.M. and Walk/Run starts at 6:15 A.M.

Scotiabank is encouraging local businesses to put together corporate teams where possible and “come dressed in your favorite holiday costume.”
