5 Virgin Islanders on ICE’S list for deportation
ICE's non-detained docket is a list of every person the United States believes is a removable non-citizen who is physically present in the United States and who is not currently held in ICE detention.
The last published data show that as of November 24, 2024, there are 1, 445, 529 non-citizens on ICE’s non-detained docket with final removal orders.
The names of the individuals are not published in the data which can be obtained online.
President Trump’s main campaign platform was mass deportation
United States President Donald J. Trump, signed several executive orders on January 20, 2025, following his inauguration, among them the ‘Protecting the American People Against Invasion’.
One of Trump’s main platforms for his campaign was mass deportation and vowed to begin mass deportation on day one of his presidency.
The order according to reports highlights what the Trump administration calls an “unprecedented flood of illegal immigration” during the last four years.
The administration claims during those years, millions of undocumented migrants unlawfully entered the US.
If successful, this could be the largest mass deportation operation in US history.
ICE presence in the USVI
The Virgin Islands Consortium (VIC) reported that ICE in collaboration with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and other federal law enforcement entities launched immigration enforcement efforts in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) and Puerto Rico.
Governor Albert A. Bryan Jr. informed the VIC on January 26, 2025, that ICE agents are monitory ferry operations.
ICE’s presence was also noted by residents in the St. Thomas-St. John district.

Hundreds were arrested and hundreds more were deported from the US mainland during Trump’s first week in office.
In a X post from the White House, on January 23, 2025, it was made public that there were so far five hundred and thirty-eight arrests and three hundred and seventy-three detainers lodged.
Meanwhile, in a January 24, 2025, statement White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the five hundred and thirty-eight illegal immigrants arrested “illegal immigrant criminals”.
She said the number includes “a suspected terrorist, four members of the Tren de Aragua gang, and several convicted of sex crimes against minors”.
Karoline went on to add, “The largest deportation in history is well underway. Promises made. Promises kept.”
Cuba and Venezuela are the only two countries in the region out of fifteen worldwide listed by ICE as uncooperative. Saint Lucia and Jamaica are the two islands in the region listed as being at risk of non-compliance.
