5 VI cricketers nominated for CWI Breakout T20 Tournament selection

GREENLAND, Tortola, VI- The BVI Cricket Association (BVICA) has nominated five local youth cricketers for potential selection in the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Breakout T20 Tournament 2025.

In the announcement on Monday, March 10, 2025, the BVICA described the five young men as “outstanding” players. The CWI Breakout T20 Tournament 2025 will occur at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago from April 25 to May 9, 2025.

Nominated players must be under 27 years as of May 9, 2025, to be eligible for selection. The five players nominated to the Leeward Islands Cricket Board for consideration in the tournament draft are:

  • Ameri Hinds- Royal Knights Cricket Club
  • Valiston Guishard- RTW Falcons Cricket Club
  • Julian Bennet- Vikings Cricket Club
  • Timothy Sookram- Vikings Cricket Club
  • Trevis Dookharan- Vikings Cricket Club

BVIOC support

Following the announcement from the BVICA, the BVI Olympic Committee (BVIOC) shared the news to its Facebook Page.

“The BVIOC is proud to support the BVICA in its commitment to developing and promoting cricket in the British Virgin Islands, providing young athletes with opportunities to compete at higher levels,” the BVIOC said in its post.

The CWI Breakout T20 Tournament 2025 will showcase six teams, representing a CWI Territorial Board, with financial backing from CWI and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchises.
