4 arrested & charged following firearms, ammo & drugs seizure
Following targeted searches at two residences, officers recovered an AR-15 rifle, a 9mm Glock pistol, 52 rounds of ammunition, and 260 grams of cannabis: bringing the firearm recoveries for 2025 to eight.
All four individuals, according to police in a press release today, March 12, 2025, were taken into custody for questioning, and subsequent investigations led to formal charges.

Raheem Blyden, 32 of Crabbe Lot has been charged with:
* Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
* Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm
* Three Counts of Possession of Explosives
* Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply to Another.
Shaika Jeffers, 31 Ayana Lennard, 29, and Chad George, 21, all of Sophie Bay, have been charged with:
* Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
* Possession of Explosives

Acting Commissioner of Police, Jacqueline E. Vanterpool underscored the urgency of tackling illegal firearms in the Territory, stating: "Although we are just ten weeks into the year, we have recovered more ammunition than there are days in the year. While this reflects the dedication and commitment of the RVIPF officers, it also highlights the alarming presence of illegal firearms and ammunition in our Territory.
"This reality should serve as a wake-up call to all law-abiding citizens. It is imperative that we unite in support of the RVIPF and other law enforcement agencies in their relentless efforts to combat gun violence and criminal activity. Only through collective action can we ensure that the BVI remains one of the safest places to live, work, and vacation."
The RVIPF has said it remains steadfast in its mission to rid communities of illegal weapons and uphold public safety.
