ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The four men who were charged on October 13, 2021, for the murder of businessman Matthew Daly on September 10, 2020, were freed of the charge in the High Court today, October 15, 2024.

Edward Crooke, Dajshon Benjamin, Micah Ormond and K'Vawn Choucoutou saw a No-case Submission upheld by Justice Rajiv Persad.

Police cant get proper evidence and Quick to charge on weak evidence. DP just as bad to submit weak cases before the courts.

when will the black-on-black crimes discontinue

looking around all the other Nationals in This Territory do not murder each-other or rob they own

Over 100 different Nationals live here and only black folks involve in serious crime

I agree in general and would not refute your comment. But, far up the chain, who are the high powerful ones that are behind the drug trade, not saying that this case was drug related, but food for thought, especially for the black brothers.

The DPP messed up when they charged Choucoutou and Benjamin knowing that they weren’t involved and they won’t admit that they were wrong. I hope they review their mistakes and do better when charging for future crimes.

This is concerning. If the persons charged are genuinely wrongfully accused and innocent, this is a perfect result. In the other hand, if they had hands in this murder we have a problem. This constant releasing of charged persons only emboldens the guilty ones to continue or do worse. A COI needs to be done on this issue…. Not one used to shut down the BVI’s economy.

Everybody knows Choucoutou is innocent but the company you keep is going to get you in trouble even when you don’t have anything to do with whatever the situation may be. Let this be a lesson to the police and DPP to properly investigate and have strong grounds before you charge someone with a crime. As for you Choucoutou, please take this moment to get your life together.

At this point it would be more surprising if the DPP actually won a case and justice was served.

Pls. They kill the damn man...We need a Law that gives scotland Yard investigators and prosecutors jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute murder cases in the BVI. People are just killing people and walking free. None of us ain save presently..

Wow! Another major lost of a big case. This has becoming the norm. The whole thing starts with poor investigation, then a weak DPP who are not able to detect inconsistancies in the evidence gathering when the file reaches her desk to send it back to the police for further investigation.
