30 VI athletes named for Carifta Games in T&T

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Thirty (30) athletes were selected to represent the Territory of the Virgin Islands at the premier junior track and field event of the region, the Carifta Games.

The BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) held a press conference on April 11, 2025, to announce the 2025 delegation to the 52nd Edition of the Carifta Games being held in Trinidad and Tobago from 19 - 21 April 2025.

The Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL), Representative for the BVI Olympic Committee, Mr Zebalon A. McLean and Mr Steve Augustine, President of the BVI Athletics Association, gave remarks at the announcement.

The Team VI delegation and tentative entries for the athletes are noted below:

    That committee is so biias. If your name doesn't ring a bell, you will never make it. Not everyone meets the carifta criteria. They select who they want. It has some athletes who did way better and haven't been selected.

      A well diverse group this year. Kudos. If I can remember, there were 14 qualifiers for the games this year. That’s impressive. All the best team BVI.

      I suppose your name just can’t ring a bell. It has to ring a bell on the track where the results are seen esp on paper? I don’t know how it goes. I’ve been to 2 track meets and these names and faces I have definitely remembered doing well. Even the ones who didn’t qualify. To not have feelings of biasness it’s best to always hit the criteria.
