ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – It was an atmosphere of celebration and fellowship among the staff, clients, investors and stakeholders of Caribbean Insurers Limited (CIL) on the newly paved frontage of the company on Water Front Drive in Road Town.
Among that group also were three aspiring talents in the music industry going as the names Aaron F. Parillon, Papa Das and Jamori Blaize. The trio was among several others who took part in the CIL first ever jingle competition.
Emerging the winner of the competition that would see his voice being the signature promoting the company was Aaron F. Parillon. He received a trophy and cash prize. Parillon is a well-known face and voice in the music industry especially with him being a key member of the local Razor Blades Band.
But when he took to the microphone the sound of fungi and cultural beats took a back seat and the other side of his talent in the craft came to the fore. The jingle appeals to the more trendy side of music that would see almost every age group tapping their feet, shaking the head, singing along and even getting to their feet to and adding some rhythmic movements.
The judges had the intense battle of calling a split point to separate the quality of the submissions of Papa Das and Jamori Blaize which saw them adjudging the two as tying for the 2nd place prize. They were each given individual trophies and cash prizes.
The promotion was coordinated by popular radio show host Mr Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart who said the submissions were of a very high quality. He highly commended the initiative taken by CIL to encourage and promote the talents of aspiring artists in the Virgin Islands.
“I want to say a big shout out to the staff of CIL. They have always been calling to say they can do more so this is just a small token of what they really intend to give back to the BVI,” said Mr Peart.
He said that there was a segment that was designed to have in-school youths participate in the competition, the entries from which are likely to be in come Monday June 23, 2014.
The Friday afternoon’s ‘easing in to evening’ event also was for the management to celebrate their step in making the frontage of the building one that is more attractive and comfortable. There were cutting of cakes, knocking of glasses, meeting and greeting and lots of food along the live performance of VIBE.
Former Commissioner of Department of Motor Vehicle Ms Lorna F. Christopher was on spot for the celebration had a surprise of her own as it was her birthday yesterday June 20, 2014. There was a big surprise cake well prepared with her photograph there that was presented to her with the singing of the birthday song and lots of applause, hugs and kisses.
