2024 VI Music Festival to be held ‘on plot of land’ behind Central Admin Complex
This was announced by Director of Tourism Mr Clive L. McCoy at a press conference on the music festival this morning, March 22, 2024.
The Virgin Islands Music Festival is slated to take place over the US Memorial Day Weekend, from May 24 to 26, 2024.
‘Enchanting setting’
“First and foremost, I am thrilled to announce that the plot of land behind the Central Administration Complex will be transformed into a mesmerising venue to accommodate this grand event.
“Picture an enchanting setting where music and culture come together to create an unforgettable atmosphere. The beauty of this location will only enhance the magic that awaits us all,” Mr McCoy stated.
The Director of Tourism said the Virgin Islands Music Festival has been on hiatus since 2014, and today “we proudly announce” its triumphant return. He said this festival is just not about music but is the revival of an event that was once known for its top-flight entertainment, vibrant energy and unforgettable memories.
‘Igniting spirit of celebration, unity & artistic expression’
“With the re-introduction of the Virgin Islands Music Festival we aim to re-ignite the spirit of celebration, unity and artistic expression that our beloved Virgin Islands is known for.”
Mr McCoy also said the musical event will serve as a testament to the resilience, creativity and passion of the Virgin Islands’ people.
“It is a moment to come together to embrace our culture, and to showcase to the world the incredible talent that exist right here in our own backyard.”
The confirmed headline artists for the event are none other than, Nigerian American actor and singer Rotimi, international soca artist Voice, international dancehall/reggae artist Alkaline, R&B legend Freddie Jackson and VI-based international soca band VIBE.
The Virgin Islands Music Festival is a promise being delivered by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).

But it terms of "an enchanting setting" I wish we could put the clock back to before the speculative land reclamation project of the 1960's. In those days Wickams Cay 1 and 2 were palm studded islets and Main Street skirted the coastline.
When I first stepped ashore in the mid 1970's the damage had been done. The acreage of sand, which became ripe for sprawling development, is none of nature's doing.
If only we were moving on all would be well. But alas, we are not learning from the past. We are making the same errors over and over again.
I repeatedly get your message on many issues. I'm told to relax, calm down, there's nothing you can do about it. But therein lies the problem. By calming down and sitting back we encourage more of the same.
Arrange special pricing for the passengers because:
1. All of the people on the cruise won't want to hear this.
2. They are not staying all night because those who won't attend will eventually want to sleep.
