2024 Revised Voters List features 16,076 Voters
The Office of the Supervisor of Elections announced that the 2024 Revised Voters List has been released in accordance with Section 23 (1) of the Elections Act, 1994 and Amendments.
The current number of registered voters represents 0.33% decrease when compared to the 2023 Revised Voters List. Of the 143 removals, 141 were due to the voters being deceased while two were removed due to duplicate entries.
Supervisor of Elections, Ms Scherrie N. Griffin, according to a Government Information Service (GIS) press release on October 3, 2024, outlined the importance of maintaining accurate lists, and persons ensuring any necessary amendments are registered with the Office of the Supervisor of Elections.
'Ensure your records are up to date'- Supervisor of Elections
Ms Griffin said, “The completion and publication of the Revised Voters List is representative of the Office of the Supervisor of Elections’ commitment to ensuring that the Territory’s voter rolls are up to date, and as much as possible, is a true reflection of the eligible voting population. This can only be achieved through community participation.”
Ms Griffin added, “If you have moved, changed your marital status, or have any change to your information listed on the voter roll, or have a relative who is deceased, it is vital that you visit the Office of the Supervisor of Elections to ensure your records are up to date.”
The Supervisor of Elections said the top four districts with an increase in newly registered voters are the Sixth, Fifth, Third and Eighth electoral districts with 15, 14, 14 and 10 new registrants, respectively.
Members of the public are encouraged to view the Revised Voters List at locations across the Territory or using bvi.gov.vg/elections. Over the upcoming weeks, the Office of the Supervisor of Elections will share additional observations noted in the 2024 Revised Voters List.
