2023 Christmas in July breaks attendance records
BVITB in a press release said the number of attendees broke the event’s attendance record, making it the most successful edition in its history, with attendees from Puerto Rico, the British territory, and other countries.
Christmas in July’s 11th edition also stood out for its environmental protection efforts, such as prohibiting the use of plastic bottles and cups, placing recycling stations throughout the beach to avoid pollution, and selling over 3,800 of the event's official reusable tumblers.
Some proceeds donated to Non-Profit organisaton
The event’s organisers donated 15% of the profits from the sale of the tumblers to Beyond the Reef, a nonprofit organisation in the Virgin Islands that focuses on marine environmental education and preservation efforts.
The event was organised by Wally Castro Marine, Marcos Rivera, and the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board.
Ahead of the official stats, Director of Tourism at the BVI Tourist Board, Clive L. McCoy had called the 2023 Christmas in July a massive success and one that was incident free.
Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), on July 24, 2023, he said, “From all accounts, it was very successful, it was incident free, and just from chatting from persons on the beach, even though it was a little hot, everyone seemed to have an amazing time,” Mr McCoy said.
