2022 Industrial Volleyball League serves off with 21 teams

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Industrial Volleyball League organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports is underway, with 21 teams competing.

Games are being played every Tuesday and Thursday at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

Among the various rules to allow for balanced competition, teams must have at least two females on the court at all times and males can only spike with their non-dominant hand while in the front court. Additionally, a male and a female must touch the ball if there is more than one touch on the ball.

Teams

The teams have been split into two groups.

The teams in Group A are Game On, ESHS Rams, Walkers Justice, BVIEC Shockers, It-Sets on the Beach, One Mart, RVIP Defenders, RTW Coca Cola, Moorings Sea Rangers, and SDA Family Life.

Group B comprises ATU Sere-Vivors, HLSCC Stingrays, CTL Up to the Code, CO Serves You Right, Trident Block Party, BVITB The Pillars, Harney’s Industry Setters, SCB Hawks, NBVI Cash-it, RB Blue Thunder and TMF Bombers.

Results

The league started on September 27, 2022, with wins for ATU Serve-Vivors and RVIP Defenders.

ATU Serve-Vivors needed just two sets to dispose of Harney’s Industry Setters (21-10, 21-18) while RVIP Defenders also defeated Game On in two sets (21-9, 21-17).

Play continued on September 29, 2022, with Sea Cows Bay Hawks overcoming HLSCC Stingrays 21-9, 21-16.

ESHS Rams then comfortably overcame RTW Coca-Cola 21-11, 21-13.

The latest action on October 4, 2022, saw CTL Up to the Code, backed by their group of supporters, taking the first set 21-13 against NBVI Cash It. CTL; however, were beaten 12-21 in the second set but found the inspiration to win the third set and the game 15-8.

The Player of the game was Ofari Challenger of CTL Up to the Code.

Game 2 was between CO Serves You Right and Republic Bank Blue Thunder.

Blue Thunder narrowly won the first set 22-20 but would cruise to a 21-15 points victory in the second set.

Kymaal T. Panchoo, better known for his basketball talent, was named Player of the Game.

Upcoming fixture

Play on Thursday, October 6, 2022, brings together Walkers Justice and Moorings Sea Rangers from 6:30 pm and BVIEC Shockers and SDA Family Life from 7:30 pm.

    Its a corporation league but you got expuerence players thst dont wirk fir the companies pkaying wirh them which is unfair to those that keep it clean, that shouod not had happen
