2020 BVI T20 Cricket Tournament remains on hold
The 2020 BVI T20 Cricket Tournament was suspended on March 22, 2020, in the wake of steps that were put in place by the Government of the Virgin Islands to minimise any potential impact of COVID-19 in the Territory.
The Territory continues to reopen and some sports organisations and promoters have started to hold or resume competitions.
“We regret to advise that the BVI Cricket Association has taken a decision to continue holding the 2020 BVI T20 Tournament in suspension mode. This decision was taken at a recent meeting of the Association's Executive Committee,” a press release from the BVICA on Sunday, July 5, 2020, stated.
The BVICA said the primary reason for the decision is that the Combined Virgin Islands Team is still unable to travel to the VI to continue its participation in the league.
Local practice games allowed
“Local teams are encouraged to play practice games at the Greenland Ground, as the BVICA has approval to use the facility until the end of July. However, approval must first be sought from the Association.”
The BVICA said it will make a further announcement in the coming weeks regarding cricket in the Territory.
