20-year-old charged with attempted murder of Cheltenham

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Almost one year after Dakeem Cheltenham of Belle Vue was shot multiple times in front of UP’s Cineplex in Road Town, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has charged a man for the offence.

The man, who has been identified as Kalik Aaron, a 20-year old Virgin Islander and resident of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands, has been charged with conspiracy to murder and attempted murder of Cheltenham.

The charges were laid today August 2, 2017 for the shooting of Cheltenham, who has been left critically injured following the October 29, 2016 shooting, according to Police.

The Police further stated that the victim continues to receive treatment for his injuries

Meanwhile, Aaron will appear at the Magistrate’s Court at the next available date.

In a story reported by this news site on October 29, 2016, it was reported that a shooting took place sometime before 5:00 AM on the said date.

This news site had visited the scene which was cordoned off where the shooting allegedly took place.

It was reported then that Detective Chief Inspector Hazel and his team would have been investigating CCTV footage of the area and speaking to persons who were present to progress the investigation.
