PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago, WI- The Prime Ministers of Canada and Trinidad and Tobago, respectively, are leaving office in an election year in their countries.

The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Keith C. Rowley, announced on the weekend that he will be resigning and that he will be leaving representational politics after 45 years.

The electorate in the twin island republic are due to go to the polls before the end of the year.

Dr Rowley said today, Monday, January 6, 2025, that Stuart Young will replace him as Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

The People's National Movement parliamentary caucus on Monday chose Mr Young to lead the ruling party.

Large number of Trinidad and Tobago nationals live and work in the Virgin Islands.

Trudeau resigns

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin P.J. Trudeau, announced his resignation as the prime minister of Canada and suspended parliament while his party appoints a new leader.

Trudeau announced today he would stand down after a leadership election, and that the Canadian parliament will be suspended until March 24.

The 2025 Canadian federal election will take place on or before October 20, 2025.

Mr Trudeau, the longest-serving leader of any G7 nation, admitted it had become “obvious” he could not lead his Liberal party into this year’s election.

“It has become clear to me that if I’m having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election,” Mr Trudeau said.

Many Virgin Islands live and study in Canada.

Both Canada and Trinidad and Tobago are part of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), of which the Virgin Islands is also a member.

Trudeau created a hot mess in Canada to call that place a disaster would be an understatement. He is the epitome of when lax liberal ideas run a-mock…….
