HONG KONG, China- The [British] Virgin Islands (VI) Asia Trade Mission, led by Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Honourable Lorna G. Smith, OBE (AL), has successfully completed its first leg in Hong Kong, engaging in a series of meetings and events last week.

The delegation included representatives from ten firms that sponsored and participated in the Trade Mission, showcasing the collaborative spirit of the VI's public and private sectors.

‘Productive & rewarding’

In Hong Kong, Deputy Premier Smith held significant meetings with key figures including the head of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Deputy Financial Secretary, and officials from the British Consulate. According to a press release from Government Information Services on May 24, 2024, these meetings aimed to bolster financial and economic ties between the VI and Hong Kong, and highlighted the mutual benefits of such partnerships.

Deputy Premier Smith said “Our engagements in Hong Kong, one of the BVI’s most important markets, have been highly productive and rewarding. We have held valuable discussions with a wide range of officials, regulators and industry stakeholders on the critical issues shaping the future of financial services in Hong Kong and the BVI. I felt a resurgence of interest in BVI products both at our government and private sector meetings and I am determined to keep this level of engagement vibrant and mutually beneficial.”

Mission continues

Hong Kong, the first leg of the 2024 Asia Trade Mission, served to bolster the VI's position as the region’s main partner for facilitating cross-border trade and business. The Mission will continue to other key locations in the region, aiming to build on the successes achieved in Hong Kong.

Organized in conjunction with the VI’s Government Representative Office in Hong Kong, 200 industry stakeholders from Hong Kong’s most prestigious offshore and onshore law firms, corporate service providers and banks, as well as numerous intermediaries gathered for a series of panels and presentations to discuss the VI advantage.

Any time China is involved, they go all over the world to invade and put their people in place, to take over and buy out everything. The takeover will be swift! Don't sell your land people.

    Well sir.
If that’s the 1st leg and don’t want to even think about the rest of the legs, wow, looking at the photos, that meeting appears to holds a gathering no bigger than 35/40 , for a 13 members delegation the percentage is ridiculous, I wonder how many legs there will be ??? Any how ,we will follow up with all this legs drama.

So did she sell our fishing rights?
Did she sign secret agreements for large developments we have not been consulted about, in return for our soul?
    No doubt.

Who's the Boss, the Primer, Natalio Sujande Wheatley or the Deputy Premier, Lorna Smith? He is, or she is, or the people of the BVI, or is the Boss the UK??? According to the Ruling Party it is, when it is in power, but when it was not, the people was. According to the UK it is the real Boss. But, apparently, none of them is the real Boss. Then who is the real Boss? Does the real Boss wears a males suit or a female dress, or did the pretentious boss went to Hong Kong while the pretentious boss prioritized "Music Fest", while the majority of the people of the BVI struggling to make end meet financially, daily?

The truth is the BVI Don't need bosses, but rather honest leaders in every area of leadership and discipline followers, of which have a low number base on our population estimate.
The truth also is that the current political leaders, that are presently in power, care very little about the best interest of the people of the BVI best interest, hardly their own. If they they did, then they should have known that China works towards their own best interest, not the BVI's people. Waste of more tax payers dollars.
