PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- The third cohort of the Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) began on March 27, 2025, with 14 new students.

This course aligns with the college’s “steadfast commitment to continuous improvement,” as stated in a press release from the college on April 14, 2025.

The CMI Level 5 Diploma, equivalent to a bachelor’s degree within the UK qualifications framework, is widely recognised as a pathway to Chartered Manager status, the ultimate mark of professional management.

CMI is the only Chartered body in the United Kingdom (UK) that awards Management and Leadership qualifications and the sole body that bestows Chartered Managers with the ultimate recognition of professional management.

According to the Dean of the Workforce Training Division and Director of CMI at HLSCC, Ms Marva Wheatley-Dawson, these programme enhancements, driven by feedback from CMI UK markers and participants, have reinforced CMI at HLSCC’s reputation for excellence in leadership education.

CMI at HLSCC has an outstanding track record- CMI UK Quality Manager

CMI UK Quality Manager Ms Helen Carney commended CMI at HLSCC for its outstanding track record in delivering high-quality management training, during a recent audit.

“For over 19 years, the Centre has consistently maintained rigorous academic standards, engaged faculty, and provided robust resources for learners.”

She further praised the centre’s commitment to continuous improvement, highlighting its responsiveness to feedback from CMI UK markers and participants, which has led to programme enhancements.

Level 7 Diploma coming in October 2025

Ms Wheatley-Dawson expressed her gratitude to the dedicated lecturers, staff, and support teams who play a pivotal role in delivering this transformative learning experience.

The course, she revealed, will be further expanded to offer the CMI Level 7 Diploma in Management and Leadership in October 2025, which is equivalent to a Master’s Degree.

There’s actually a recent American study that shows the incredible decline of blk American men furthering education beyond high school. I believe the same can loosely be applied to some Caribbean countries. Check the graduating from last year. The question should be how does each society reach the young men to encourage enrollment of higher education beyond high school
