ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A special weekly event held at Bamboushay Restaurant and Lounge raised $12,000 for the Virgin Islands Alzheimer’s Association.

The money was raised during the weekly FUNdraising Quiz Night on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

The event, hosted every Wednesday since January 2025, at Bamboushay Lounge combines “brainpower, good food, cold drinks, and a great cause”, a statement from the restaurant said.

They thanked the quizzers, supporters, and generous hearts who helped raise the funds.

Dollar-for-dollar matching

A check of $6,160 was presented to the Alzheimer’s Association by Governor Daniel Pruce; however, due to Begbies Traynor’s dollar-for-dollar matching, the total raised is more than twice that amount.

The matched funds will be delivered to the association soon, the statement added.

It continued that the weekly FUNdraising Quiz Nights are games with a purpose as they are fundraising with fun.

“What better way to support local causes than over delicious meals, creative cocktails, and some friendly trivia competition? It’s community action at its best,” the statement said.

Bamboushay Restaurant and Lounge invited members of the community to join the weekly activity, adding, “Be part of something special. Great vibes, great food, and a great cause—there’s no better combo.”

There is no point raising funds for Alzheimer's with an event that promotes alcohol.

You know, alcohol promotes brain damage.
