WICKHAM'S CAY 1, Tortola, VI- Chief Executive Officer at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park (CBRTPP), Mr Vance M. Lewis said the facility’s 12 days of Christmas programme planned for December 13 to 24, 2019 is expected to change the mindset that the park was not built for locals to enjoy.

Lewis said residents could expect a packed schedule to include 'super pier sweeps' and the first-ever land sale and family feud.

“We are very excited to share with you our new and exciting 12 days of Christmas programme. This year, the executive team and the board of the CBRTPP has set things up one gear, and we have an enhanced package which we believe will light the BVI on fire with the increased activities that we are likely to see commencing on December 13,” he remarked.

“Some people walked away with the impression that it [CBRTPP] wasn’t for locals, well this programme changes all that. Because under the leadership of the new directors, we are seeing a shift in making sure that the local people for whom this park was created, share in what we have, share in this internationally recognised facility,” Lewis added.

43 ship days, thousands of visitors

Lewis said, during those 12 days, thousands of cruise passengers and locals are likely to visit the park.

“We have about 43 ship days, which means we are going to get a lot of visitors coming through and we expect to share with them our culture. We expect approximately 100,000 people to pass through this facility over those 12 days and we are trying to encourage twice as many people to come through,” he noted.

More about the Christmas programme

The 12 days of Christmas programme was launched on Friday, December 6, 2019, at the CBRTPP office.

There, Business Development Manager at the CBRTPP Zoe J. Walcott outlined the daily activities.

Among the highlights for the 12 days will be opportunities to win cash and other prizes through the first-ever Xmas Family Feud on December 16 and 23, 2019 with a total of $4,000 on the line.

Property and Land Sales with surveyors, banks, realtors, and contractors depicting available properties in the Territory will take place on December 14.

On December 17, the CBRTPP will have a Xmas Karaoke-Off with $500 to be won. There will also be a Super Pier Sweeps deal, where participants can win a treasure chest on December 24, and a Naughty or Nice Runway Show on December 20, 2019.
