High school youths in daring knife fight
It was a very close call where one would have viciously stabbed the other had it not been for the screams of bystanders that alerted peacemakers to quickly push the target away from the boy who was advancing with weapon in hand.
This scene unfolded right before the eyes of a reporter attached to this news site sometime around 4:00 pm in Paraquita Bay.
How it all unfolded
It appeared that the two fighters had just gotten off a bus carrying schoolchildren when they got engaged in a daring fist fight. They appeared to have been no older than 16 years of age.
The fist fight escalated from standing and cuffing out to tumbling on the ground. This lasted for quite some time as several adults chose to stand aside and look on. It was also noted that the driver of the bus also stayed in 'stop' mode seemingly enjoying the scene along with the other children in the bus before driving off without any attempt to part the fighting youths.
It took the effort of two other peers, also dressed in the school uniform and whom appeared to have gotten off the same bus, who took some blows in their effort to part the two. When one decided that he was not going to suffer any longer, the other was bent on bringing calm to the fight and pressed on until they were parted.
What happened next was what was bothersome and a cause to worry about the sorry state of violent behaviour and the rise of indiscipline among youths who have no regards for adults.
It was a struggle to keep the two from clashing again. While one decided that walking away was the best thing to do the other continued in a rage of hot temper.
The one who appeared to have been walking way lived just a stone’s throw away. He went into his yard and in a few short moments was back out brandishing a machete. The screams of onlookers became loud and the peacemaker had his hands filled again as he risked being injured while he struggled and eventually succeeded in taking the weapon away.
But the other kept on pursuing him. “Oh lord Janet come quick a boy gon chap up your son come quick Paraquita Bay,” screamed one woman who knew the boys and was also struggling to part the fight.
It was then the other was noticed advancing in tears and an obvious temper carrying what appeared to have been a large carving knife, with curved and pointed tip. There was no holding back of him as persons fearful for their own safety started screaming and running away.
He advanced to the other who was already subdued by the friend of his mother and was being whisked away. “NO NO NO,” and in a split second the knife wielding youth was a step away poised to inflict wounds but it was the peacemakers’ quick blocking of the attempt that prevented the worst from happening and again it was their peer who was brave enough to struggle with his friend and relieve the other of his knife.
It did not stop there as the other managed to get himself away from those who tried to make peace, went into the yard of the one who had the weapon and started throwing stones at his home. The other was believed to have gone into his apartment at that time.
Shortly after a man who appeared to have been a parent arrived on the scene and had to literally man-handle the one who narrowly escaped injury or death. He fought back with the parent with words and attempts to free himself from the grasps. “What you doing without your shirt, I send you to school dressed to go and come back same way, what you doing, what you going on with boy, what you behaving with, get into that vehicle now, NOW I say, get in there now,” said the parent in his attempt to discipline the youth.
Snippets of the scene were caught on camera in video form but cannot be shown on this news site as the boys are believed to be minors and the extent of the explicit language was overwhelming.

My statement tackle the problem from the top when it comes to deeds young men with the intent to commit a crime. Machete and knife was involve so if they cannot be control on the street put dem in a juvenile detention center and da minister responsible should be providing for dat. When you tink about it, the parents as much as they try, the kids still go out and do bad so. How many times you will tell deeds rugrats to turn the other cheek?
So it have to be tackle from the top to send a message and if the minister is focus on travel and blowing up he mouth in the House of assembly with he bullying tactics well he too is at fault for not focusing on de youths. Dis youth for walwyn is a FR..D! It is you for the BVI. Deal with the problem territory wide. He sending the wrong message for the youth meaning if de youth dem ain't wid he, he is not with dem.
We will have to weed the minister out of office also.
Praises that there was no bloodshed - are you for real? Understandable, bothersome - why are you using these words? This is children fighting with weapons!
When it's a fight etc. "you" want to watch it, so no one bothers to call the police. There is nothing in it for you.
WE are responsible for what takes place in our community. Parents, relatives, friends and churches are responsible for not instilling proper values and holding children responsible for their own actions. Myron Walwyn, unless he was there and did nothing about it is no more responsible than the rest of us.
We DESPERATELY need a juvenile detention center. The sooner the better.
Off the side: Next time just knock both of them out
Them need some licks in they a.s...send them to prison like how them ppl on Maury does be so yet can be boss around from the guards and prisoners and see how they goin be if they don't change their life around from that kind of violence
