MIAMI, Florida, USA – Information coming into Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) is that the ex-Virgin Islands Premier Andrew A. Fahie's Attorney, Theresa M. Van Vliet, has filed an eight-page list of proposed voir dire questions to ask potential jurors.

According to the Virgin Islands Daily News based in the USVI on December 14, 2023, several of the questions seek to determine whether potential jurors have formed any impressions or opinions of him.

“There are also questions about whether jurors have seen any media reports about Fahie or the case against him, and numerous other questions about the jurors’ personal background and connections to issues like law enforcement, drug trafficking, and moral beliefs that could impact their ability to render an impartial verdict,” the news source noted.

Trial in 2024

Mr Fahie, who served as the VI’s Premier between 2019 and 2022, and had been in politics since 1995, has been charged with conspiracy to import a controlled substance (cocaine), conspiracy to engage in money laundering, attempted money laundering, and foreign travel in aid of racketeering.

The voir dire questions come as a Miami court last week Wednesday, December 13, 2023, amended bail requirements for ex-Virgin Islands Premier Andrew A. Fahie, allowing his wife, Sheila E. Forbes-Fahie, to visit him for the holidays without surrendering her passport as previously required.

Mr Fahie has been largely confined to his daughter’s Miami apartment since he was released on $1M bail in June 2022 as he awaits trial in the new year 2024.

Van Vliet had asked that the court allow Fahie’s wife to keep her travel documents during her visit and said pretrial services and prosecutors do not object to the request.

Seems like this attorney wants to such as much money from Foy as she can; all these antics and he is still going to go to Jail. She should be negotiating a plea deal for him..

I think Andrew has very little chance of winning this but as his Lawyer she has to follow his wishes. Most lawyers will lay out options for their client and have them decide, it's very likely that Andrew just doesn't want to admit guilt.

I agree 100%. I also think that Andrew is doing this for the BVI. He believes if he plead guilty or found guilty Britain will use this against the BVI to impose direct rule and he doesn't want that, so he is taking his chances in court...

You can keep that conspiracy for yourself. The man got arrested for trying to sell the country for next to nothing.

Hopefully she can show how one country hiding behind a next to remove someone who they found was fighting against their colonial evil for the best for his people.

I think it is as important for him to walk free as it is for her to win the case. For the record I think she will win.

It shows the extent the slave masters would go to eliminate anyone who challenges them. Their time will come.

You are just as stupid as the rest of the other idiots. Do you really think his attorney gives a S? Her thing is to get enough money as she can. Let his A take a plea deal and keep it moving.

That is why I hate defense attorneys, they know their clients is often guilty and they still defend the wrong of the client. In the end she is walking away with a pocket full of money and off to the next client while he is off to jail.

Take a plea deal or get football numbers. He really think they playing and he’s larger than large. He needs to remove the ego and take the deal. He got caught red handed without a doubt, how is he going to win?
