Troy E. Christopher appointed Chairman of Immigration Board
This was disclosed by Cabinet, which met on August 16, 2023, at the Premier's Conference Room, Cutlass Tower, where all Members were present with the exception of the Minister for Communications and Works who was overseas on official business and the Attorney General, who was on annual leave.
The Solicitor General Mrs. Jo-Ann Williams-Roberts attended as the acting Attorney General. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency, the Governor Mr John J. Rankin, CMG.
According to the Post Cabinet Meeting Statement published August 25, 2023, Cabinet endorsed the Minister’s recommendation, in accordance with Section 13(2a) of the Immigration and Passport Act Revised Edition 2013 that Mr Troy E. Christopher be appointed as Member and Chairman of the Immigration Board for two (2) years with effect from August 15, 2023, to August 14, 2025.
Mr Christopher contested the 2023 General Elections of the Virgin Islands as an Independent Candidate vying for the Second District seat but lost to Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2), who was re-elected with 560 votes. Mr Christopher received 303 votes.
Other appointments
Cabinet also decided that in accordance with Section 13 (1) (7) of the Immigration and PassportAct Revised Edition 2013, Mrs Shakira Skelton Leonard, and Mrs Michelle Todman-Smith be appointed as Members and Mrs Rexella Hodge and Ms Kimberly Seagojo be reappointed as Members of the Immigration Board from August 15, 2023, to August 14, 2025 for a period of two (2) years, respectively.
